We have two dogs and offer them goodfood and a comfortable bed. However, they always try to run away. One day as Iwas walking them along the river, Cady broke away from me. I called for her toreturn, but she didn’t. I got unhappy and didn’t run after her.

That afternoon I picked my daughterup from school and I told her that Cady might be missing. “If she has donesomething wrong, I will not be paying her fines this time,” I said. My daughterasked for the reason. I insisted that I would not keep a disobedient (不听话的) dog.

I took a glance over my daughter. Itseemed that the thought of losing the dog was very painful to her. I think Ihave given Cady a good living environment. If she is silly enough to leave allthat behind, then “bye-bye” is my attitude.

In a warm and tender moment thatbrings tears to my eyes, my daughter said, “Dad, you don’t understand. Cady isnot pretty and not even well trained. If she is missing, no one will adopt her. That means she will d学科网(www.zxxk.com)--教育资源门户,提供试卷、教案、课件、论文、素材及各类教学资源下载,还有大量而丰富的教学相关资讯!ie.”

At aprimary school in a small town in the east of South Carolina, second-gradeteachers Carneau and Lynne are convinced that separating primary boys and girlsproduces immediate academic improvement in both genders (性别)

DavidChadwell, South Carolina’s coordinator (协调人)of single gender education says,“Boys and girls learnhear and respond to theirsurroundings differently. We can teach boys and girls based on what we nowknow.”

Male andfemale eyes are not organized in the sam学科网(www.zxxk.com)--教育资源门户,提供试卷、教案、课件、论文、素材及各类教学资源下载,还有大量而丰富的教学相关资讯!e way, he explains. The composition of themale eye makes it sensitive to motion and direction. “Boys interpret (理解)the world as objects movingthrough space,” he says.

The maleeye is also drawn to cooler colors like silver and black. It’s no accident thatboys tend to create pictures of moving objects instead of drawing the happycolorful family, as girls do in class.

The femaleeye, on the other hand, is drawn to warmer colors like red, yellow and orange. To attract girls, Chadwell says, the teacher doesn’t need tomove as much as in boys’ class. Using descriptive phrases and lots of colors inpresentations or on the blackboard gets their attention.

Boys andgirls also hear differently. “When someone speaks in a loud tonegirls interpret it as yelling,” saysChadwell. “They think you’re mad and can shut down.” Girls are more sensitiveto sounds. He advises girls’ teachers to watch the tone of t学科网(www.zxxk.com)--教育资源门户,提供试卷、教案、课件、论文、素材及各类教学资源下载,还有大量而丰富的教学相关资讯!heir voices. Boys’ teachers should sound moreforceful, even excited.[来源:学科网]

Stress in boyshe says, tends to increase bloodflow to their brains, a process that helps them stay focused. Girls are morefocused when they are seated in a warmer room around 75°F. Girls also respond to stress differently. Whenexposed to threat and conflict, blood goes to their guts (内脏), leaving them feeling nervous oranxious.

These differencescan be applied in the classroom, Chadwell adds.“Single gender programs areabout maximizing the learning.”

Adding math talk to story time athome is a winning factor for children’s math achievement, according to a newresearch from a university. The study from psychologists SianBeilock and Susan Levine shows a marked increase in math achievement amongchildren whose families used Bedtime Math, an iPad app that delivers engagingmath story problems for parents and children to solve together.

Even children who used the app withtheir parents as little as once a week saw gains in math achievement by the endof the school year. The app’s effect was especially strong for children whoseparents tend to be anxi学科网(www.zxxk.com)--教育资源门户,提供试卷、教案、课件、论文、素材及各类教学资源下载,还有大量而丰富的教学相关资讯!ous or uncomfortable with math.

Previous research from this group hasdemonstrated the importance of adults’ attitudes about math for children’s mathsuccess. For example, a recent study found that math-anxious parents who helptheir children with math homework actually weaken their children’s mathachievement.

The new findings demonstrate thatstructured, positive interactions around math at home can cut the link betweenparents’ uneasiness about math and children’s low math achievement.

“Many people experience high levelsof anxiety when they have to solve a math problem, with a majority of adultsfeeling at least some worries about math,” said Beilock, professor in Psyc学科网(www.zxxk.com)--教育资源门户,提供试卷、教案、课件、论文、素材及各类教学资源下载,还有大量而丰富的教学相关资讯!hology and author of Choke, a book aboutstress and performance. “These math-anxious parents are probably less likely totalk about math at home, which affects how competent their children are in math.Bedtime Math encourages a dialogue between parents and kid学科网(www.zxxk.com)--教育资源门户,提供试卷、教案、课件、论文、素材及各类教学资源下载,还有大量而丰富的教学相关资讯!s about math, and offers a way to engage inhigh-quality math interactions in a low-effort, high-impact way.”

Study participants included 587 first-grade students andtheir parents. Families were given an iPad installed with a version of theBedtime Math app, with which parents and their children read stories and answerquestions involving math, including topics like counting, shapes andproblem-solving. A control group received a reading app that had similarstories without the math content and questions related to reading comprehensioninstead. Children’s math achievement was assessed at the beginning and end ofthe school year. Parents completed a questionnaire about their nervousness withmath.

The more times parents and childrenin the math group used the app, the higher children’s achievement on a mathassessment at the end of the school year. Indeed, children who frequently usedthe math app with their parents outperformed similar students in the readinggroup by almost three months in math achievement at year’s end.

Dear Sir,

I’m writing to tell you something about ourdiscussion on the topic "Whether Middle School Students Can Carry Mobilephones (Cell-phones)" at the class meeting.[来源:,,Z,X,X,K][来源:学科网ZXXK]

Forty percent students agreed, for theythought it was convenient for them to communicate with their relatives andfriends. They also thought they could surf the Internet to search for someinformation and store some useful information. Besides, they could play gamesfor rest if they feel tired after a long time’s study.

However, sixty percent of us were againstit. They said the radiation of cell-phones was harmful to health, and theringing sound did somewhat affect the cell-phone holders and others. Also,cell-phones were luxurious things for middle school students and it was easy tolead them to compare with each other.

As far as I am concerned, I agree with themajority. It is not suitable for middle school students to have cell-phones. Wecan get in touch with others by other means and we can read more books toenrich ourselves.

     Best wishes.
